Who Is Jesus? and a Prayer of Salvation

The God who made us has answered our most profound questions:

  • not with words - but with The Living Word!

  • not with explanations - but with An Example!

  • not with propositions - but with A Person!

Jesus Christ is the Answer to life’s most perplexing questions:

To those who are empty and hungry inside, Jesus said:  “I am the bread of life.  He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.”  John 6:35

To those who grope in darkness, Jesus said:  “I am the light of the world.  Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”  John 8:12

To those on the outside looking for the entrance to eternal life, Jesus said:  “I am the gate, whoever enters through me will be saved.”  John 10:9

To those looking for guidance and love, Jesus said:  “I am the Good Shepherd...and I lay down my life for the sheep.”  John 10:14-15

To those who want to know which way they should go, which path in life to take, Jesus said:   “I am the way and the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me.”  John 14:6

To those who want to live a productive life, Jesus said:  “I am the vine; you are the branches.  If a man remains in me and I in him he will bear much fruit.  Apart from me you can do nothing.”  John 15:5

To those who want to know the ultimate origin and destiny of life, Jesus said:  “I am the Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”  Revelation 22:13

Are you ready to receive Jesus as your personal savior?  Knowing your sins are forgiven and you are ready for heaven is as simple as the following steps:

A. Admit you have sinned.

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23
"If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us." 1 John 1:8

B. Believe in Jesus.

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life." John 3:16

C. Confess and leave your sin.

"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9

You might want to use the following prayer as a guide:

Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that I'm a sinner, and I'm sorry for my sin. Thank You for dying on the cross for me. Please forgive me of my sin, and accept me as Your child. I desire to live for You, Jesus. Amen.

Congratulations on becoming a part of God's forever family! Obviously this is only a first step. Should you like to know more about your decision please contact us by clicking here.

Prayer Accord

In the 1700’s Jonathan Edwards began to challenge the churches of New England to unite together in prayer for common goals.  He and the churches of his day prayed for the revival of the church and the spiritual awakening of those who were lost.  He also called this praying in concert or a concert of prayer.  In answer to this concert of prayer, God brought about the 1st Great Awakening.  By the end of that century, America had fallen into such a moral decline that we have never seen its like, even to the present day.  Again, God’s people began to pray in agreement, and again, God sent revival to America in the form of the 2nd Great Awakening, which some have called “America’s Pentecost.”  This 2nd Great Awakening gave birth to the Modern Missions Movement that has since brought the gospel and awakening to every country in the world.

Therefore, the main thought of a concert of prayer is to pray in agreement, based on the promises of the Word of God, with other believers.  When Jesus taught in Matthew 18 about dealing with a brother or sister in sin, He shared this truth of the power of praying in agreement:  Matthew 18:18,19 (NIV)   "I tell you the truth, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.”  Jesus also spoke of the power of prayer in relationship to the gospel in Matthew 16. Jesus said that prayer would be strategic to all effective ministry on earth.  Matthew 16:18,19 (NIV)   “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven.”  Recognition of the place of prayer and the importance of agreement in prayer are the basis of all concerts of prayer.  A prayer accord is the same idea, but in an ongoing manner.

On May 6, 1999, the National Day of Prayer, many church leaders and denominations put forth the following Call:

A call for Extraordinary Prayer, in recognition of:

  • Our absolute dependence upon God

  • The moral and spiritual crises facing our nation

  • Our national need for repentance and divine intervention

  •  Our great hope for a general awakening to the lordship of Christ, the unity of His Body, and the sovereignty of His Kingdom

  • The unique opportunity that the dawn of a new millennium presents to us for offering the Gospel of Christ to everyone in our nation

We strongly urge all churches and all Christians of America to unite in seeking the face of God through prayer and fasting, persistently asking our Father to send revival to the Church and spiritual awakening to our nation so that Christ’s Great Commission might be fulfilled worldwide in our generation.

Because of the great crisis that once again faces our nation, these same leaders then made a call for United Action.

Therefore, we humbly yet strongly request all churches and all Christians to join together, at a minimum, in the following five patterns of prayer:

  • By daily spending time with the Lord in prayer and in the reading of His Word so as to yield ourselves fully to the control and empowerment of the Holy Spirit, praying daily for revival as well as awakening in our land.

  • By weekly humbling ourselves before God by designating a day or part of a day (Friday, if possible) for united prayer with fasting as the Lord leads,

  • By monthly designating in individual churches one service for concerted prayer, emphasizing this call, with special focus on its neighborhood applications,

  • By quarterly assembling in multi-church prayer events emphasizing this call, with special focus on its regional applications,

  • By annually participating in the nationwide prayer events emphasizing this call, with special focus on its national and global applications.

Jonathan Edwards challenged the churches to begin by making a two-year trial agreement or accord to see if this plan was one to which they would be committed.  It was followed by a seven-year prayer accord which would be renewed until God sent revival.

We would like to make 2001 and 2002 a two-year trial prayer accord in which we will seek God and His blessings and decide whether we will continue the District Prayer Accord after that time.  This first two year period of time would give leaders ample opportunity to seed this type of extra-ordinary prayer into the life of their church.

Individual Prayer Accord

While understanding that as a believer I live by grace and that this prayer accord is not an unbreakable vow, but rather a goal I will strive to reach, I commit myself to a two-year trial period to seek the Lord for the revival of His church and the spiritual awakening of our nation:

  • by daily spending time with the Lord in prayer and in the reading of His Word so as to yield myself fully to the control and empowerment of the Holy Spirit.  I will also pray daily for revival  of all NEDA Churches as well as churches throughout New England and America.  I will pray also that the Holy Spirit might bring spiritual awakening to our land;

  • by weekly humbling myself before God by designating a day or part of a day (Friday, if possible) for united prayer for revival and spiritual awakening with fasting as the Lord leads;

  • by monthly designating in individual churches one service for concerted prayer, emphasizing this call to pray for revival and spiritual awakening, with special focus on its neighborhood applications;

  • by quarterly assembling in multi-church prayer events emphasizing this call to pray for revival and spiritual awakening, with special focus on its regional applications;

  • by annually participating in the nationwide prayer events emphasizing this call to pray for revival and spiritual awakening, with special focus on its national and global applications.

After due prayer and reflection, a pastor may choose to commit his church's participation in this commitment in a corporate fashion.  Click here for a printable form which you may complete and mail back to NEDA.
