1.  Earthquake in Haiti- EFCA Response

We have activated the Earthquake relief account (#3970) to receive donations with a “Donate Now” link to the Earthquake relief account on the home pages of both the EFCA and TouchGlobal www.efca.org.

CNN is reporting that a devastating 7.0 earthquake hit the capital city of Port-au-Prince Haiti about 5 PM EST Tuesday afternoon, with upwards of 24 additional aftershocks recorded throughout the evening with some aftershocks reaching 5.9 on the Richter scale. Many government buildings including the Presidential Palace have collapsed, trapping workers and leaving many people unaccounted for. Homes, hotels, hospitals and other buildings including U.N. installations have collapsed or sustained severe damage. Thousands are unaccounted for and are feared dead or trapped beneath the rubble.

Port-au-Prince has an estimated population of 2-3 million people. Haiti is the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere, with 80% of the population living below the poverty line and 50% of the population living in abject poverty.

Pray for:

* Mark Lewis and the rest of our team as we determine how God would have us respond

* Our EFCA church planter and other ministry partners there

* The people of Haiti as they experience loss, pain and death

* The many missionaries that serve there as they respond and live out Christ in the midst of tragedy

* That God would move in this Crisis and that people would come to know and trust him

Serving HIM,

2.  Children's Ministry Summit

WE’RE B-A-A-A-CK!   The NEDA Children’s Ministry Summit “Handprints on Lives” has been rescheduled for Saturday,  March 6,  2010 from 9AM – 3PM at Wethersfield E. Free Church.  The summit is designed for anyone working with children – Sunday School teachers, SS Superintendents, club workers, etc.  The theme is:  What kind of handprint does the home, school, friends or church leave on children?  Dr. Skip Lewis from Lancaster Bible College will be the keynote speaker.  Registration materials have been sent to all churches. Please note that online registration is available at the Wethersfield EFC website.  For questions please call Cindy Nicewonger, Director of Children’s Ministries at WEFC - 860-563-8286 or email:  child.min@wethefc.com .  Thanks.

3.  Skowhegan Work Teams

Trinity EFC in Skowhegan, ME is looking for summer work teams made up of teens, adults and skilled workers to help construct the homeless shelter.  Skowhegan is truly having “those type of people” living in the church, getting help, and hearing about Jesus. Please take some time to look at the website www.trinityevangelicalfree.com to observe the progress of the building.  Contact Pastor Richard Berry at trinity_efree@yahoo.com

4.  Attention Women in Ministry

Plan on attending the NEDA conference March 18-19th! On Thursday, March 18th, you are invited to a networking luncheon with NEDA District Mobilizer Regina Robinson. Connect with other women in ministry from the district, encourage one another in respective churches, and hear the vision of reaching and supporting NEDA women in 2010.  In an effort to build the women in ministry team for NEDA, the Thursday training session is provided to you free of charge with only the cost of the luncheon to all interested women! Please contact District Mobilizer, Regina Robinson at robinson.regina@gmail.com  to register or for more information prior to March 1st.

5. Pew Bibles

Wethersfield EFC has a bunch of NIV Pew Bibles that vary from being new in their original wrapping to being worn.  They would like to offer them for free to another church, church plant, home church who could use them.    In total there are about 3 or 4 boxes. Please contact the Wethersfield EFC church at 860-563-8286 or wefc@wethefc.com

6. Prayer Request

Morijah Evangelical Church is a Haitian congregation and is part of NEDA.  Please be in prayer for their close friends and colleagues in Haiti.  Their student ministries leader (also a GCTS student) is Igor Alexis. He and Gregore, a lay leader from their church are flying to Port Au Prince this weekend.  Morijah sent a large ministry team to Haiti last summer, so the network of friends, contacts, ministry partners (and therefore the needs) is vast! Please also pray for Igor and Gregore.  They don’t know what to expect when they get there and want to be used by God in every way possible.
