Updates

The nature and scope of medical relief in a disaster is a rapidly changing environment and based on the needs and available resources.

Given the current situation, the need for EFCA TouchGlobal Crisis Response - partnering with Vision of Hope Ministries - to develop and staff a field hospital next to the Berard EFC Church is no longer necessary.

Efforts will now focus on construction and support in the Cap Haitian area. This work will include:

  • a deep well and water purification system
  • construction of the orphan house
  • repair of the ministry complex in Berard
  • financial support for related disaster activities

It is a dynamic/changing environment in which Crisis Response is ministering. New updates will continue to be posted. Visit the pages below to read recent stories and updates about EFCA TouchGlobal Crisis Response’s Haiti relief:

Visit the EFCA Crisis Response blog for updates directly from our personnel on the field. You can also view a  Haiti collage of experiences and pictures from the field.

Serve

EFCA TouchGlobal is coordinating this response in connection with the EFCA Southeast District and an EFCA church planter in Port-au-Prince. Other partner ministries and relief organizations have been contacted in Haiti as well. As soon as a base of operations is set up with the essentials, teams will be sent.

If you are willing to organize a team, send your contact information to haitiresponse@efca.org or call the Crisis Response office at (985) 893-0218 ext 7. Internships, short-term and long-term service teams will be needed. More information will be coming soon.

Pray

As you pray for Haiti on a broad scale, join with us in praying for the following specific needs:

  • For Pastor Absalon and Henoc, a Haitian church planter who works for our partners Vision of Hope . Ministries. Read a note written from Henoc.
  • For the leaders and members of the church plant as they serve in the midst of this crisis.
  • For the EFCA TouchGlobal Crisis Response director and his assessment team to make wise decisions. They are mobilizing aid and networking throughout Haiti as they develop plans for ministry there.
  • For donations for the long-term recovery and rebuilding process. There is a need for large vehicles and machinery.
  • For teams and personnel assistance that long-term crisis response ministry needs.
  • The rainy season begins soon. Since the earthquake it hasn’t rained but imagine what will happen when over 80% of the population is living under tarps, on the street, and are faced with the tropical rain storms. Food and hygiene will be more compromised and diseases associated with the rains on the rise. There will be added danger when the rain and the winds hit already compromised structures.

7.  Camp Spofford Update

Romans 20:1 - For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

The lake is frozen over, and it has been a beautiful site at night with the HUGE full moon shining its lights.  God is good.  There is a lot going on around Spofford.  Enjoy the Newsletter located on the NEDA bulletin board.

You are in our prayers.
